With many of the club’s players having progressed through local youth football themselves, the developments taking place across Banchory are helping to strengthen the pathway for the next generation.
Strengthening the pathway for local players
One of the biggest developments has been the completion of the new full-sized 3G all-weather pitch, providing an important new facility for football in Banchory and the surrounding area.
With around 500 young players involved in Banchory Community Club, the facility provides more opportunities to play throughout the year while helping strengthen connections between youth and amateur football.
A pitch-sharing arrangement is also being progressed, creating further opportunities for young players to use the facility and helping establish a clearer route for those who want to continue playing locally as they progress through the game.
The development reflects a wider community effort, with Banchory Community Club playing an important role in helping to make the facilities available and supporting the future of football in the area.
Bringing Banchory Amateurs closer to home
Banchory Amateurs are already seeing the benefits of having better access to local facilities. The squad has secured a two-hour training slot on the new all-weather pitch, allowing players to train in the area rather than travelling out of the area on winter evenings. For an amateur squad balancing football with work, family and other commitments, having a reliable local training base makes a real difference.
Home matches are moving closer to the community too. The team is now playing fixtures at The Milton (Banchory Saint Ternan Juniors) pitch every other Saturday, with the more central location already helping attract more supporters and sponsors.
With teas, coffees, pies and snacks available, matchdays are also becoming a more welcoming community occasion for friends, families and supporters getting behind the team.
Building momentum on the pitch
Those positive developments off the pitch have been matched by an encouraging start on it. At the time of our last update, Banchory Amateurs had played six league games and were sitting top of the table, making an excellent start to their 22-game league campaign.
While there is still plenty of football to be played, the early performances are another positive sign for a club continuing to develop both on and off the pitch.
With a squad built around local players and stronger connections developing across the Banchory football community, the foundations are there for the Amateurs to continue building on their early-season momentum.
